Burnham’s Field reopens Saturday, September 6’th with new playgrounds, a resurfaced basketball court, and lush greenery. Join Mayor Carolyn Kirk and Ward 2 Councilor Melissa Cox for a celebration of the renewal of Gloucester’s primary downtown park. The event will showcase major renovations made to the public space, an effort realized through the dedicated citizens of Gloucester. Following the completion of Burnham’s Field Community Garden in 2011, the city’s newest revitalization project is in line with an effort to beautify Gloucester’s parks and fields, and make them more accessible to residents. “Green spaces matter, and getting outside and running and playing matter,” said Friends of Burnham’s Field leader John McElhenny.
