A big salute to all of the Gloucester winners this year in North Shore Magazine’s “Best of the North Shore” awards! Gloucester is proud of its reputation as the North Shore’s oldest working waterfront and as an arts mecca that features two designated cultural districts at Rocky Neck Art Colony and Harbortown, but taking home eight BONS is truly special!

Congratulations to the winners—Latitude 43 Restaurant & Bar (winner of two categories!), Seaport Grille, Short & Main, The Willow Rest, The Market Restaurant, Nor’east Cleaners, and Cape Ann Brewing Company. The entire city is thrilled!
Best Alfresco Dining

Latitude 43 Restaurant & Bar was the big winner, taking home two BONS awards for Alfresco Dining and Reader’s Choice, Sushi. Gloucester is blessed to have so many amazing waterfront and neighborhood al fresco dining choices, so this honor is a real coup for Latitude 43!
Best Dry Cleaner

There’s nothing like a locally owned business that knows local residents. So it’s no surprise that Nor’east Cleaners took home the BONS for Best Dry Cleaner. The 45-year-old business offers pick-up and delivery service from Gloucester to Beverly via their signature bright yellow bags. Nor’East Cleaners remains the only dry cleaner in New England that is fully certified under Green Cleaners Council guidelines.
Best Water View Restaurant

If you can’t win the BONS Alfresco Dining award, the BONS Best Water View Restaurant is not a bad consolation. The Market Restaurant in Annisquam has proved that it’s not just a joint with a pretty view but a farm-to-table powerhouse that features menus updated daily based on the best local growers and producers have to offer!
Best Lobster

Is anybody surprised that Seaport Grille’s decadent lobster plate is this year’s Best Lobster Dinner? NSM lauded both the Grille’s crustaceans (“cooked to perfection and locally caught”) and unforgettable sides like garlic mashed potatoes and lobster mac and cheese.
Best Gourmet Pizza

Gloucester knows pizza. In fact, websites like Zagat, Trip Advisor.com and Chowhound.com extoll the virtues of our harborside pies. But only one place on the North Shore can take home the top title in the Best Gourmet Pizza category and the winner in 2014 is Short & Main. By offering fresh ingredients like Maplebrook Farm mozzarella, homemade sausage and locally sourced Guanciale, Short & Main earned this award the old fashioned way – one delicious bite at a time!
Best Sandwich

The Willow Rest’s balsamic mozzarella caprese sandwich is a lunchtime legend and now it’s the winner of the BONS for Best Sandwich on the North Shore. Made with “thick homemade bread, locally sourced produce and ingredients,” this feast has no equal.
Best Brewer

Cape Ann Brewing Company is renowned for craft beer that represents classic regional flavor and innovative brewing techniques. Which explains why Cape Ann Brewing is BON’s 2014 winner as Best Brewery, a place where “you’ll discover something playful and unexpected too” such as the Fisherman’s Tea Party, a barley wine made with 3 different styles of tea (types dumped during the Boston Tea Party!)
